A reminder on Nominet's policy for .ltd.uk domains:

All registrants in .ltd.uk and .plc.uk must be incorporated companies (not partnerships of any type or unincorporated companies) listed on the index of company and corporate names ('the Names Register') maintained under section 714 of the Companies Act 1985 (or later equivalents);

and

(for .ltd.uk domains) must be entitled to use 'Limited', 'cyfyngedig', 'ltd.' or'cyf'. in their corporate name; or

(for .plc.uk domains) must be entitled to use 'Public Limited Company', 'Cwmni cyfyngedig cyhoeddus', 'Plc.' or 'ccc'. in their corporate name.

Please note that when applying for .ltd.uk or .plc.uk domains in your control panel or via the API, you must also send an email with the company number and registered name of the company to us at resellers@easynic.com.

Failure to do so will result in a delay in the application for the name being made.

Applications for these domains are made manually and are also assessed manually by Nominet so please bear in mind that confirmation of registration will take longer than with standard domains.

Nominet Down Time - Data Restructuring

On June 11, Nominet, the registry operator for .UK, will perform a system upgrade. This upgrade is part of Nominet’s ongoing data restructuring project, and is largely comprised of back-end changes.

These changes will allow Nominet to eventually move to the EPP protocol, and introduce new functions in the future.

Nominet has scheduled this upgrade for Sunday, June 11.

Registrations, renewals, transfers and modifications will be unavailable during this period, however steps have been taken to ensure minimal disruption is experienced.

Nominet Bulk Update

.uk New Terms and Conditions

Please note that from 1st March 2007, new terms and conditions will apply for .uk domain names.

Nominet have introduced new registrar and good practice agreements and as a reseller of Easyspace, a Nominet registrar, you are also bound by these terms.

A term stating that unless specific permission is given, the domain name will only be registered in the name of the customer

This means that any .uk domain you register for your clients MUST be in their name and not the name of the reseller.

Exchange Rate Update

The exchange rate has been capped for some months now by Easynic, but due to currency rates increasing, we will be increasing the exchange rate used to 1.96 in line with the latest rates advertised at www.xe.com.

This change will be effective from 1st February, 2007.

.com/.net migration to EPP - Saturday 26th August 2006

On 26 August 2006, we will be migrating our .com and .net domain names to the EPP system. This system has been introduced across the domain name industry to bring about a uniform way for registrars to communicate with the domain registries.

Between 1500 and 2100 GMT on Saturday 26th August, we will be updating all existing .com and .net domains to allocate an EPP code. This will be necessary for transferring domain names between registrars. During this maintenance time, new registrations, renewals, transfers and changes to registrant information may experience slower response times. We apologise for any incovenience this may cause.

Also from Saturday 26th August, EPP codes will be required to transfer .com and .net domain names in. EPP codes will be available through your control panel shortly.

.uk Down Time - 10th August 2006
